Shaping attitudes, changing behaviours

We all know there's several types of bullying: physical, mental, emotional, racial and alot more. The majority of people who suffer from being bullied in their teenage years struggle to speak out aloud to anyone about it, afraid of the repercussions.

The majority of these young people don't realise there are places online where they can speak and gain advice from a neutral volunteer for their problems.

Beat-bullying is a charity that has helped over 700'000 young people over the past five years. Giving out advice, re-educating and changing the behaviours of young people all over the schools and communities in the UK in regards to bullying.

The vision: "Empowering people to understand, recognise, and say no to bullying, violence and harassment by giving them the tools to transform their lives and the lives of their peers. Working with families, schools, and communities to understand the problem, campaign for change and provide a sustainable efficient and proven solution."

Beat bullying are firm believers that the act of bullying contridicts our basic British values of fair play, aspiration, respect, social justice and opportunity. They believe the country must act collectively in order to eradicate bullying, in order to support the thousands of children and young people who panic every night at the thought of going to school the next day or just partaking in the simple act of leaving their house. Many children cannot make the best of themselves when they are victims of bullying, because their ability to learn, to contribute, to be happy and just be a child, is undermined and sometimes lost forever.

Schools that beat bullying are currently helping are seeing a staggering 80% cut rate on children who are being bullied.

Celebrity supporters include the boys from JLS, Paloma Faith, Dame Kelly Holmes, Peter Andre, Diversity and Kim Marsh

Also included on Beat Bullyings team are their councillors and moderators, plus all the designers and executives who ensure that the website runs appropriately and safely. Some of the online councilors are volunteers, giving their support to the community.

Having support from outsiders is crucial to beat bullying. They rely on generous volunteers and donations in order to keep their charity alive.

Check out their website, see what you can do for the children and young people who are suffering in silence.

Often for those who have been bullied they become a bully themselves later in life. No matter where or when in life the bully will meet his or her match, it will either change them for the better or make them worse.

There is help out there for them, the bully 9 times out of 10 does so because of a lack of love in their lives.

Great hub and insightful with all the references you have written about.

Blessings

Good thing to publish this hub. I detest bullying and bullies with my whole heart, having been victimized in my childhood days. It's so good to know there's help for the victims.

I'm glad to see that something is being done. We as a nation waited to long with the attitude that bullying is a normal part of growing up. How is that normal? It seems that the victims were totally ignored, and the educational system, parents and our nation lose sight of the fact that there are actually two victims. The bully, has mental or horrid self esteem issues if they feel that its okay to prey on the vulnerable daily into some type of submission. This is sick telling behavior of warped character and in all probability the parent of the bully is unaware of their child's behavior when out of sight.

Timely hub, shared, and rated up!!

Great hub! I have also recently published a hub about the internet bullying. Glad to see that the issue is address by other people too.
